ABOUT THE LABEL

The Namilia identity is always about reworking common understandings of femininity and masculinity, clashing strong and sensual elements to present a more modern understanding of gender expression. As a brand built upon an aesthetic of unapologetic, bold political statements, sex-positivity is woven into the DNA of Namilia. A pioneering voice of motocross and rave revival style, the label is known for its provocative gender-neutral clubwear as much it’s known for its celebrity fans, including Rihanna, Cardi B, Christina Aguilera, Paris Hilton and Arca. Namilia was founded in 2015 by Nan Li and Emilia Pfohl shortly after finishing the Fashion Masters Course at Royal College Arts London. The duo’s first collection, “My Pussy, My Choice” was selected for VFiles Runway - October 2015. Namilia would continue to show at NYFW for 5 collections, with inspirations and concepts that ranged from subverting teenage heartthrobs to Rococo, to challenging anti-Asian racism and the rise of Donald Trump. In January 2023, Namilia debuted with a splash at Berlin Fashion Week with their “Cruising Utopia” collection, followed by the viral success of their S/S24 runway show, “In Loving Memory of My Sugar Daddy. ” Now showcasing in their home city, Namilia brings a global perspective with a locally informed perspective of iconic and inclusive beauty.

ABOUT THE SHOW

"Pfoten weg!" is the name of Namilia's HW24 collection, eagerly anticipated by the colorful fan crowd of the label on Tuesday evening at the Kulturforum Gemäldegalerie. Inspired by medieval armor, military looks, and glamorous trash, Emilia Pfohl and Nan Li presented looks that, as usual, provocatively addressed the hate against queer people who bravely navigate public spaces.

Materials and aesthetics play a pivotal role this season, with an array of prints and patterns, including realtree motifs and bespoke monogram prints. Pinks and rhinestones interplay with chain mesh, stretch lycra, and vegan leather, crafting a dynamic visual narrative. Moreover, the collection introduces new silhouettes, featuring sculptural fits and couture-inspired designs that redefine the brand's aesthetic.

The show's ambiance was meticulously curated, with the illustrious Kulturforum in the Gemäldegalerie serving as the backdrop. Renowned London-based DJ and producer, SH3L, provided an original soundtrack, enhancing the sensory experience. The casting reflected Namilia's well-known commitment to diversity, presenting a refreshing and alternative vision of fashion.

For Namilia, this season's highlight lies in collaboration, as they reunite with creatives who inspire their vision of freedom. Ultimately, the brand aims to imbue wearers with confidence, power, and undeniable allure, epitomizing the essence of liberation through fashion.
