Fashion in Art part 2
Welcome to the first fashion corner #atthemoxy!!!
Tonight will be the turn of
Barbara Herbert and Aurelia Paumelle!!
Five original designs by Aurelia Paumelle will be painted by Barbara Herbert in a Live Performance situation accompanied by a DJ performance from Eric D. Clark!!!
Aurelia Paumelle has developed clothing collections that transcend fashion industry`s fleeting diktats, existing beyond time, place and gender by focussing on the body`s eternal needs. Her designs are characterised by minimal but magnificent unisex creations which are precious and elegant. From 2005 to 2009 she has worked as a model and pattern maker in Paris and Berlin, e.g. in the studios of Sonia Rykiel, John Galliano and Yves St. Laurent. Since 2010, she has run her own fashion label, working as Creative Director and Brand Manager Aurelia Paumelle Berlin. Aurelia Paumelle has been collaborating with artists and musicians on various projects for years.
Barbara Herbert is a contemporary artist working in the fields of painting, collage, performance and installation. She is a Master Degree student of Michael Buthe at the Academy of Art, Düsseldorf. She had held an Interdisciplinary Guest Professorship for Artistic Transformation at the University of the Arts, Berlin and was awarded 1st Prize by the Karl-Hofer-Gesellschaft in 2005 for the innovative project „Stille Post“. Barbara Herbert has worked and exhibited in several countries (South Korea, Malta, New York, Berlin and Düsseldorf). Her art is represented in several important public collections.
Barbara Herbert`s artwork has long been inspired by fashion, materials, colours and lifestyle. The collages presented in the exhibition at Aurelia Paumelle`s fashion store reflect her views on femininity and urban living. She focuses on changes and transformations of body images in the global context and her transgender concepts are clearly linked to Aurelia Paumelle`s unisex fashion designs.
