About Berlin Fashion Week

Twice a year, Berlin transforms into a national and international fashion metropolis. As part of the BERLIN FASHION WEEK (BFW), buyers, fashion experts and media reps come together to attend glamorous fashion shows and awards ceremonies, to visit trade fairs and to enjoy a variety of exhibitions and off-site events These two annual fashion weeks contribute significantly to Berlin’s economic growth as a major style capital. 

The highlight of the Spring/Summer 2010 BERLIN FASHION WEEK are the shows involved in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin taking place in the historical heart of the city on Bebelplatz next to Unter den Linden. Other BFW staples include the PREMIUM fashion trade fair, which takes place in a former postal freight train station called STATION-BERLIN in the district of Kreuzberg, the”5 elements.berlin” and “BOUDOIR” lingerie and bodywear trade fairs, and “thekey.to” – a trade fair focusing on environmentally friendly and sustainable clothing. The Bread and Butter Berlin fair will take place simultaneously at the former Tempelhof Airport from July 1-3, 2009.

The Showroom Mile, which had its premiere in July 2008, is an initiative of Berlin’s Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues and will be organized this year for the first time by Gruppo del Café Palermo. The idea behind the project is to give Berlin designers and national and international artists the opportunity to present their collections, works and projects to a wide and attentive audience at various Berlin locations that will be transformed into showrooms. 

Since 2007, Berlin Partner GmbH has worked together with the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues to organize the BERLIN FASHION WEEK. While the Department of Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues co-finances individual formats involved in the BFW and organizes the Showroom Mile together with Gruppo del Café Palermo, Berlin Partner GmbH promotes Berlin as an up-and-coming European fashion center and leading business location.
